A FEW THINGS
BEFORE YOU GO.

Can I take the car on a ferry?+

Ferry travel between the mainland and islands requires prior arrangement. Approval is required before completing the booking. The rental company named in your booking confirmation can answer questions about the agreed journey.

Can I drive into another country?+

Permission must be arranged in advance for the selected car. Conditions and prices depend on the car, rental company and length of the trip.

Which payment card do I need?+

The payment and deposit requirements are shown during booking and in the rental voucher.

How old do I need to be to hire a car?+

The minimum age and driving experience are listed on each car’s page. Requirements can differ even between similar models.

How much fuel should I return the car with?+

The car is due back with the same fuel level as at collection. If the level is lower, the rental company charges for the difference at its rates. Extra fuel is not refunded.

Croatia car hire.
A trip that fits.

A few nights in one base or a journey along the coast: car hire in Croatia gives you the flexibility to plan both. Your dates, collection point and return location determine which cars are available. Different car types for hire in Croatia suit different passenger numbers and luggage. The selected offer confirms the model, seats and gearbox, together with driver age, licence history and payment-card requirements.

Finish where it works.

Airport collection is the main option for available hire cars in Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Zadar and Pula. The Croatia airports serving these regions offer different starting points for the coast and inland. The rental company named in your booking confirmation provides the meeting point and collection instructions. A return in another Croatian city uses a separate return location in the search. Availability and charges depend on the offer. Permission to drive into another country and approval to return the car there are separate arrangements.

Before the road.

  • Driving licence
  • Payment card
  • Rental voucher

The documents for car hire in Croatia include a valid physical driving licence. Payment-card and deposit requirements depend on the selected car and appear during booking and in the rental voucher. Some cars require a physical embossed credit card in the main driver's name. Hire car cover and excess affect the financial arrangements after damage. Wheels, undercarriage, windscreen and interior are excluded from standard insurance. An incident requires immediate notification to the rental company and a police report unless the company specifies otherwise.

A Croatia Bosnia border crossing or driving from Croatia to Montenegro is added during booking using the cross-border option, for a fee. Travellers also need their own border documents.

The rental company named in the booking confirmation handles collection and return questions. The supplied phone number, including country code, must remain reachable the day before collection and throughout the hire.
