Hire car cover and excess
Hire car cover and excess determine how damage is handled and what may remain payable. The deposit is a separate holding arrangement. The selected offer and rental agreement specify the amounts, cover options and payment conditions.

How do the deposit and excess differ?
A deposit is money held under the rental arrangement. An excess is the amount that may remain the renter’s responsibility under the applicable cover. Each has its own conditions. The offer and voucher explain how the deposit is held and when it is released. Some companies retain deposits for 30 to 45 days after return. The chosen car’s agreement states its timing.
What does standard insurance exclude?
Standard insurance excludes damage to wheels, the undercarriage, windscreen and interior. Any additional cover has its own scope, excess and exclusions. Cover through the rental agreement and a separate policy held by the traveller have their own terms. The relevant policy determines the treatment of a particular incident.
Incident reporting
An insured event requires immediate notification of the rental agent and a police report unless otherwise agreed. Failure to fulfil these conditions cancels the insurance and makes the renter fully responsible. The company’s contact details are in the confirmation. A record of any agreed reporting instructions belongs with the incident documentation.
Permitted use
The car may be used only on paved public roads. Deliberate damage caused by intentional vandalism or neglect invalidates the insurance. Ferry use and travel outside Croatia require prior arrangement. Visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina or Montenegro involve vehicle permission and appropriate insurance evidence alongside the selected cover.
Charges after return
Fuel, parking, fines and tolls are the renter’s responsibility. Unpaid fines or tolls incurred during the hire can be charged against the deposit, including administration charges for fines. The company named in the confirmation handles questions about charges. Return records and receipts can help identify the journey or transaction. The fuel and vehicle-condition requirements also apply at handover.
The selected agreement
Driver eligibility, documents and the required payment card sit alongside the cover decision. The selected offer sets the car-specific conditions. The rental conditions apply together with the booking rules and the agreement for the chosen vehicle.
