Documents for car hire in Croatia
Documents for car hire in Croatia include a valid physical driving licence and the payment card required by the selected company. The booking confirmation provides collection details, company contacts and agreed return arrangements.

Who can drive the hire car?
Each offer states the minimum driver age and driving experience. These requirements vary between similar models. The rental company may refuse the vehicle when the driver falls outside the selected car’s conditions. The choice of car type also depends on passengers, luggage and transmission. Child seats and additional drivers form part of the agreed booking.
Which driving licence is required?
The national driving licence must have details duplicated in Latin script and remain valid through the end of the hire. The original physical document is required; copies and electronic licences are excluded. An International Driving Permit is strongly recommended as an additional document when the national licence is valid only in its issuing country. The national licence remains part of the required documentation.
Payment card and deposit
Some offers require a physical embossed credit card in the main driver’s name. Where debit cards are accepted, the card must also be physical, personalised, embossed and issued to the main driver. The booking information and voucher state the applicable payment methods. The remaining hire cost, deposit-holding method and refund timing are separate parts of the payment arrangement. Some companies retain deposits for 30 to 45 days after return. The deposit and excess concern different responsibilities under the agreement.
Collection and contact details
The confirmation contains the rental company’s collection instructions and contact number. A changed flight or arrival time can be discussed through those contacts. The telephone number supplied with the booking must include the correct country code and remain reachable throughout the hire and on the day before collection.
Vehicle condition and return
A collection check records the car’s condition, fuel level and agreed return instructions. Any issue identified at handover can be raised with the company before departure. The car must return with the same fuel level. A shortfall is charged at the company’s rates; extra fuel receives no refund. Cleaning is charged when dirt prevents inspection. Fuel, parking, fines and tolls are the renter’s responsibility.
Hire period and changed plans
The minimum chargeable period is 24 hours. A period extending into another day can be charged as a further full day. Extensions require advance arrangement with the rental agent. The rental company named in the confirmation handles collection, return and rental questions. Rental conditions, the selected offer and separate booking and cancellation rules apply to the reservation.
